Great atmosphere and well kept beer. Fire looked fab, couldn't get close unfortunately. Good music too.
I love the bar it's absolutely beautiful and the live music is great. Unfortunately members of staff are more bothered chatting between themselves than serving customers so you're ending up waiting to be served for absolutely ages.
The Merchant is a popular bar on the main route from the seafront towards the town center. Live music is often available over weekends. A open fire and cosy atmosphere make for a great atmosphere.
Quirky Irish bar right on the main drag in Scarborough. Lively clientele creating brilliant atmosphere. Great wee Irish band playing on Friday night - lively set full of traditional tunes, certainly got the audience involved ! Well worth a visit if you've any Irish soul in you and you're in town !!!
Loud and lively! The initial impressions when you enter are that it is quite dark and a bit 'spit and sawdust' however when you reach the bar, the staff are friendly and there is an impressive array of whiskies on the wall that would suit every taste. The music on a Saturday night when we visited was not live but they did have live music earlier. It was however very loud which made conversation quite difficult but as the music was good, not too much of an issue. Overall a good experience for our first visit and a positive experience
