Small gallery, but excellent quality
Very interesting place, a fantastic display of taxidermy and magnificent paintings. A lot of which were donated by Thomas Laughton a prominent Scarborough business man whose elder brother Charles was the famous Hollywood film star. A ticket which costs 3 or so will give you access to the Art Gallery and the Rotunda Museum too Very Good Value.
Nice gallery with a small permanent collection. Always has several smaller temporary exhibits that are interesting. 3 entrance fee gets you entry to the gallery and the Rotunda for a full year.
Beautiful 19th century building with excellent exhibitions that are changed frequently. Lots of high quality local art related to local history. Always something to do for children too.
"Don't judge a book by its cover" : it may appear a little untidy externally but there's plenty to entertain and enthral you once inside! The Rotunda focuses on the Jurassic history of the nearby coastline and has some excellent aspects for the younger generation, while the Art Gallery would be more likely to appeal to the middle and older generations.
